Ladies and others,
As we embark on our little cruise for vacation Meghann and I have come to impasse in our relationship. She is a big music fan and I require a much more intellectual stimulant when I am driving. So I pose the question to you fine folks what is the fair and best compromise for our driving entertainment.
We have the options of:
Talk Radio which is fleeting do to the unreliability of the AM stations and the rural areas. But I do love the John Boy and Billy Show which if you have not been entertained by then please put down your thinking cap and prepare to be delighted. I also have included the Colin Cowherd show into my routines. Since we are travelling on the weekend Cowherd is out but the Best of John Boy and Billy is a possibility and then Van Peesy (spelling ?) is in the afternoon.
Music (Buzzing and clicking) Meghann would prefer the reverberating nonsense of her favorite popular music.
Books on tape which I think you have to be 50 to get into but since the Mother in Law is rolling with us it will pass. However, the content of which may drive one or all of us insane.
The BIG problem is I feel that as the driver or as I see it the protector of their lives. I should have a bigger say in the entertainment so that I am focused and alert on making sure that we do not run off a bridge embankment. Meghann feels that as the passenger she is entitled to being entertained while sitting in the navigators seat.
Mo in Law meanwhile is subject to the torture of sitting by the kids watching a movie with the kids or seeing one because of the lack of headphones, and hearing whatever the front seat decides is the most entertaining so because of all that torture I will take the responsibility of her vote.
MY QUESTION TO THE MASSES IS, WHAT IS THE BEST OVER THE ROAD ENTERTAINMENT? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONGS RADIO SHOWS, OR STORIES FOR OUR DRIVING PLEASURE.
KEEP IN MIND IF YOU POST RIDICULOUS THINGS EVERYONE WILL SEE IT ON THIS BLOG. This is probably like one of the most visited sites on the net, I think.

Well, brother, i don't know what to tell ya. Aimee and I are opposite from ya'll. I like music and she likes to read. So, I drive and have complete control of the radio. She takes a book and reads the entire time. Unless I want to talk to her then she will put her book down and listen to me as if she cares about anything I'm saying. She is so good to me. I love you baby!! (Thought I would put that in there since this is the most popular site on the web, after all it is THE TRUTH WELL TOLD right?)

I think any option that does not include listening to children's songs/ videos is preferable. In all fairness I think if the rider has the option of looking at magazines or reading books or otherwise entertaining themselves then by default the driver gets the radio to entertain themselves. (Sorry Meghann) However, I would not read or otherwise occupy myself if we could listen to talk radio. Also in my defense I try not to read the whole time and do bring other things (crochet) so I can still talk to my chauffer.
Well I know that I would vote for books on tape, but then I am over 50. In my defense we started much earlier that 50 with books on tape, because like you your father likes talk radio. However, unlike you changing channels all the time got old especially when we couldn't find one. We didn't have satellite radio in those times. I think that is probably the reason Meghann takes her ipod along so she doesn't have to listen to talk radio. I know she can't read any more in the car, so maybe some kind of compromise can be attained. Like changing every hour. I have also heard some of your choices in music and talk radio. My thought would be what is appropriate for your children to "accidentlly" hear if they are not watching movies. By the way, Corinne sings when listening to her CD. She also just mentioned that Meghann has a separate Blog.
